Two broadcasters share live Premier League rights in the UK for 2026/27: Sky Sports and TNT Sports. Between them they show at least 267 of the season’s 380 matches live, which is more than any previous UK deal.
Who shows what
Sky Sports is the main rights holder, with at least 215 live matches. That includes most of the Saturday 5.30pm, Sunday afternoon and Monday-night games, plus the bulk of midweek rounds. If you only take one subscription, Sky Sports covers the most football by a distance.
TNT Sports has 52 live matches, built mainly around the Saturday 12.30pm kick-off. TNT’s channels can also be streamed through HBO Max in the UK, so you don’t need a TV box to watch them.
There is no third broadcaster this season. Amazon Prime Video, which showed Boxing Day and midweek rounds in earlier deals, no longer has live Premier League rights in the UK.
Can you watch without a Sky box?
Yes. Sky Sports channels are also available through a NOW membership, which runs month to month and works on phones, laptops, smart TVs and streaming sticks. TNT Sports streams through HBO Max. Both are contract-free, which suits fans who only want football during the season.
Why isn’t my team’s 3pm match on TV?
Matches kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday are not shown live anywhere in the UK. This is the long-standing “3pm blackout”, designed to protect attendances across the football pyramid. Those games are moved to other slots when they are picked for TV, otherwise you can follow them through live scores and highlights. We explain the rule in detail in our 3pm blackout guide.
Free highlights
Live Premier League football is not shown free-to-air in the UK. Highlights are: the BBC’s Match of the Day shows extended highlights of every match on Saturday and Sunday nights, and on BBC iPlayer afterwards (a TV licence is required).
How TV picks are announced
The Premier League confirms TV selections in batches, usually several weeks ahead. Kick-off times can move when a fixture is picked, so it’s worth checking close to the day. On KickoffTonight every match page shows the confirmed kick-off time in your own time zone and the live score during the game.
